hawk with its recurved beak touching its mouth. The Sun Chief is the
provider of healing energy and life, put into the sky by Raven. The
rays are means of our travel between earth and sky. |

Killerwhale |

The powerful
Killer Whale was identified by its round snout, large mouth, often
with teeth, symmetrical tail flukes, blow hole, long dorsal fin, short
pectoral fins. It is an important mythical creature associated generally
with clan ancestors as well as with coppers, property disposition
and wealth. |

3 Thunderbird |

The Thunderbird is recognised by
its large recurved beak and horn on top of its head which symbolised
the Supernatural. Thunderbird was the most powerful of the spirits.
Its wings caused thunder and lightning flashed from his eyes. During
a storm the Thunderbird scoops up the Killer Whale. The Elders say
the bones of Killer Whales have been found on mountain tops, left
there by the Great Thunderbird. |

in weaving and makes men good fishermen. The forlorn call of the Loon
under the light of the Moon is a recognised symbol of the majesty

is a symbol of immortality and wealth. The great abundance of the
salmon allowed the culture of the Northwest Coast to flourish. |

by its elegant curved beak. A symbol of power and prestige, Eagle
down represents friendship and peace to all. Eagles mate for life
and are family oriented. |

The powerful Bear is recognised
by its huge nostrils, short snout and ears. The Elder Kinsman, he
teaches the legends and dances. Bear is always respected and treated
as a high ranking guest. The human head is the Bear’s paws symbolises
its awesome power over life and death. |

The Wolf is identified by its long
snout and ears and lots of teeth. The Wolf is very family oriented,
they mate for life and share all responsibilities equally. The Wolf
is a symbol of great strength. |

the sun and placed it in the sky so the world would have light. Raven
also gave mankind the moon, stars and also made available salmon. |

toothless grin and large eyes. The Frog is the voice of the people,
symbolising innocence, stability and communication. It is a powerful
spirit that brings good fortune. |
